"Bursting with sharp laughs and searing sweetness." —Kristy Puchko, Mashable

"Perfectly evokes the 1970s in look, sound and cinematic satisfaction."—Peter Howell, Toronto Star

"Like a hug for those who could really, really use one."—Louisa Moore, Screen Zealots

Join us for a special Cinema Salon screening of the film on Tuesday, November 21 with a post-screening discussion with Senior Center member Frank Murray, retired teacher of literature, philosophy, and film.

Acclaimed director Alexander Payne's (Sideways) is a throwback in the best way possible. It’s 1971 at an exclusive prep school in New England. As the holidays are approaching, the curmudgeonly Paul Hunham (Paul Giamatti) is stuck on campus babysitting the students with nowhere to go during the break. Despite the less than optimal circumstances, the surly instructor forms an unlikely bond with one of them—a damaged, brainy troublemaker (newcomer Dominic Sessa)—and with the school's head cook (Da'Vine Joy Randolph), who has just lost a son in Vietnam.
