Samet (Deniz Celiloglu), a young art teacher, is already despondent nearing the end of his fourth and final year of government mandated teaching. When one of his students accuses him of inappropriate behavior, the scandal is enough to drive him over the edge. Desperate to find solace, he pursues his colleague Nuray (Merve Dizdar) who is more than equipped to provide the intellectual sparring he craves.Adapted from co-screenwriter Akin Aksu's diary, the film maintains the novelistic hallmarks of writer/director Nuri Bilge Ceylan (Winter Sleep) with Brechtian touches throughout and a powerhouse performance from Dizdar who won the Best Actress award at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival.
