As America's stock of athletic young men is depleted during World War II, a professional all-female baseball league springs up in the Midwest, funded by a publicity-hungry candy maker. Competitive sisters Dottie Hinson (Geena Davis) and Kit Keller (Lori Petty) take the opportunity to try out for a team and are drafted by the Rockford Peaches. As the girls on the Peaches form an inseparable bond, Dottie and Kit find themselves drifting further apart.
