75th Anniversary Screening

"Brilliantly atmospheric."—Tom Milne, Time Out

"The story is involving, the atmosphere is as starkly noir as anything Bogart participated in, and the dynamic between the leads is as conspicuous as ever."—James Berardinelli, ReelViews

Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall star in this visually inventive story of a man on the lam. Vincent Parry (Bogart) just escaped prison after being locked up for a crime he did not commit – killing his wife. The young Irene Jansen (Bacall) takes him in after he's beaten up by a stranger hitching a ride, but he soon realizes he needs to keep running. On the advice of a taxi driver, Vincent seeks out a plastic surgeon to alter his appearance. With nowhere to go post-surgery, he ends up back at Irene's while he heals and the two try to clear his name.
