DIALOGUE with Director Tommy Haines, Producer Andrew Sherburne, Photographer David Greedy after Friday 6:30 and Saturday 1:00 showtimes.
"Rousing...this film is a winner."—Gary M. Kramer, MovieJawn
"A must-see. Raw and brutally absorbing."—David Ehrlich, Indiewire
Iowa City filmmaker Tommy Haines (Saving Brinton) returns to his northern roots with Hockeyland. Minnesota is the heartland of US hockey, creating more skaters—on the local rinks and in the NHL—than any other state. Here, the senior boys of rival towns—one an emerging dynasty, the other with a fabled past—face down uncertain futures as they skate for a last chance to etch their names into local lore. Where Texas football has Friday Night Lights, Minnesota high school hockey has Hockeyland.
Made by an Iowa City film team including Haines, Sherburne, Greedy and cinematographer Ben Handler.
