Q&A
Using footage, form, and structure from big budget action blockbusters of the past four decades to create a climate disaster film that is just as bombastic and ridiculous as the films it's sourced from while also speaking to our current climate crisis is no small task. But the Anti-banality Union have managed to do just that complete with an all-star cast.

EARTH II

A Refocus Film Festival Selection

Using footage, form, and structure from big budget action blockbusters of the past four decades to create a climate disaster film that is just as bombastic and ridiculous as the films it is sourced from while also speaking to the very real state of emergency we find ourselves in today is no small task. But the Anti-banality Union have managed to do just that, with a cast of Keanu Reeves, Matt Damon, Will Smith, and Jeff Goldblum no less. This anonymous filmmaker collective have been creating similar works for over a decade tackling subjects such as the police state and urban destruction on film. With their latest work, they have managed to make, "the most expensive climate disaster epic to be produced for no money."

When Earth turns out to be a sinking ship, humanity must quickly find a replacement — or so the private space industry and its investors would have us believe. But the planet hasn't given up the fight just yet, and when the world's governments declare war on Earth, they are signing up for a battle unlike anything civilization has ever witnessed. As Earth prepares for its last stand, it finds some unlikely allies from within the ranks of its greatest foe — humans.
