Vicky Krieps (Phantom Thread, Bergman Island) stars in this adaptation of the play Je reviens de loin by Claudine Galea. The cerebral drama follows Clarisse who has left her husband and children without explanation, hitting the road seemingly to nowhere. In almost a dream-like haze, details begin to emerge as we cut back and forth between this portrait of a woman in crisis and the family she has left behind. Known primarily as an actor in France, director Mathieu Amalric perfectly balances the mystery of the source material and builds the film to a stunning conclusion. Vicky Krieps gives a quietly devastating and multilayered performance in the lead for which she earned the Un Certain Regard award for Best Performance at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival.
