A LONG WINTER

Director Andrew Haigh in person for Opening Night!

Adapted from celebrated author Colm Tóibín's novella of the same name, this introspective exploration of loss takes us into the snowy Rockies of Colorado in the 1950s. Mike (Fred Hechinger) is a young man on the precipice of coming into himself. With his brother (Kit Connor) going off to the warfront in Korea, he finds solace in the animals he tends to outside of his family's remote cabin. When one day his mother (Caitríona Balfe) goes missing just as the winter snow is approaching, he and his hardened father (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) do their best to gather the community to help find her before it's too late. Nearly two decades in the making, director Andrew Haigh (All of Us Strangers), puts his uniquely tender touch on this intimate story that once again showcases the quiet power of our own humanity.

Andrew Haigh will also be presented with the 2026 Cinema Savant Award at a screening of his film 45 Years on Friday, October 23.
