Attack of the Beast Creatures (1985)

a.k.a. Hell Island

Directed by Michael Stanley (Doing Agatha)

Featuring: Robert Nolfi, Julia Rust, Robert Lengyel

Horror... Terror... Death... They'll eat you alive!  We dare you to see it!

"The titles should tip you off!  We're definitely in the center of grown-up Monster Kid territory here.  Amateur actors giving it their all.  Waves of synthesizers washing across the soundtrack.  A lot of wandering in the woods.  Frequent attacks by tiny monsters that alternate between rather silly and really quite good." - Dan Budnik, Bleeding Skull! A 1980s Trash-Horror Odyssey

"Michael Stanley's ultra-cheap monster movie may lack plausibility but at least it gives tedious, glossy efforts like Ghoulies and Troll a run for their money." - Stephen Thrower, Nightmare USA: The Untold Story of the Exploitation Independents

"Attack of the Beast Creatures stacks up as a camp classic of the first rank." - The Phantom of the Movies

"This is my favorite movie from Connecticut since Horror of Party Beach!" - Michael J. Weldon, The Psychotronic Video Guide

"I found myself cheering the hairy little fuckers on.  Kill those trespassers!  How dare they invade your island!?  You will too." - Nathan Hill, Cinema Sewer

A beloved regional horror vortex that was conjured in Connecticut, Attack of the Beast Creatures is a triumph of low budget ingenuity.  In an unknown galaxy, a group of travelers crash their boat on an island.  At first, all is well.  But when a man takes a dip in an acid lake and becomes a steaming pile of gloop, it's clear that there's trouble in paradise.  That's when the cult of demon dolls reveal themselves... and their appetite for eating faces.  Fueled by outrageous gore, a sublime synthesizer score, and jaw-dropping puppet effects, this is what happens when a mid-century creature feature collides with DIY surrealism and everyone wins.

AGFA is honored to present Attack of the Beast Creatures—originally known as Hell Island—on the big screen for the first time in decades, featuring a restoration from the original 16mm camera negative.
