"A wickedly funny high school comedy for most of its running time, Rushmore is a bracingly fresh and original outing."—Todd McCarthy, Variety
"If happiness is finding something you love to do and doing it forever, one of my somethings might just be watching this oddly uproarious little flick."—Jan Boyar, Orlando Sentinel
"A true original: a film that stands apart from the crowd, goes its own way and all but dares you not to like it."—Michael Wilmington, Chicago Tribune
The second feature from director Wes Anderson, with a screenplay written by Anderson and Owen Wilson, Rushmore is the story of a gifted, rebellious teenager named Max Fischer (Jason Schwartzman), a 10th grader at the elite Rushmore Academy. The captain or president of innumerable clubs and societies, Max is also one of the worst students in the school, and the threat of expulsion hangs permanently over his head. Max's world is rocked when he falls for elegant 1st grade teacher Miss Cross (Olivia Williams) -- then finds himself competing for her affections with his newfound friend, the misanthropic steel tycoon Herman Blume (Bill Murray).
