“Dare I say that even Jane Austen herself would have delighted in the final triumph of Ms. Knightley's quick-witted Elizabeth in this film? Yes, I do, and all the highbrow and middlebrow cinephobes of the world be damned.” - Andrew Sarris, The Observer

“As historically authentic-looking as Pride & Prejudice is, it has far more invested in emotional authenticity -- you feel engaged every moment.” - Stephanie Zacharek, Salon.com

Elizabeth Bennet (Keira Knightley) lives with her mother, father and sisters in class-conscious England near the close of the 18th century—an era in which a family's security was dependent on daughters making good marriage decisions. Sparks fly when spirited Elizabeth meets single, rich, and proud Mr. Darcy (Matthew MacFadyen). But when Mr. Darcy reluctantly finds himself falling in love with a woman beneath his class, can each overcome their own pride and prejudice?
