“Its strength resides in a philosophy of self-exploration through personal fulfillment, bodily acceptance and exploration, artistic creation, and spontaneity.” - Brian Eggert, Deep Focus Review

“Understatedly hilarious. Cort and Gordon are a truly unique pairing. A must see.” - Niki Patton, Martha's Vineyard Times

Harold (Bud Cort) is a dead-pan disillusioned 20-year-old obsessed with suicide. Maude (Ruth Gordon) is a sweet fun-loving 80-year-old eccentric. They meet at a funeral, and develop a taboo romantic relationship, in which they explore the tired theme of the meaning of life with a fresh perspective in a cult classic that feels just as fresh and transgressive over 50 years later.
