Irish sailor Michael O’Hara (Orson Welles) becomes involved in a complex murder plot when he is hired to work on a yacht belonging to a wealthy criminal defense attorney, Arthur Bannister, and his beautiful wife, Elsa (Rita Hayworth). O’Hara soon finds himself implicated in the murder, despite his innocence.
