"This is Grant's first truly remarkable performance, morphing a romantic leading man into a suave, impish clown."—Michael Phillips, Chicago Tribune

"One of the funniest of the screwball comedies and also one of the most serious at heart."—Dave Kehr, Chicago Reader

"Zappy, sophisticated screwball comedy with Grant and Dunne displaying perfect timing.”—Geoff Andrew, Time Out

Carey Grant, Irene Dunne, and Ralph Bellamy star in this story of a love triangle where Jerry (Grant) and Lucy (Dunne) Warriner decide it's time to end their ill-fated marriage, but something about Lucy's new romance with the Oklahoma oilman, Dan Lesson (Bellamy), doesn't sit right with Jerry. And Lucy can't seem to shake lingering feelings of doubt as the two share custody of their wire fox terrier Mr. Smith (played by Skippy, the it-dog of depression era Hollywood). Grant's starring turn in this warm comedic gem, established his legendary persona. The film would also earn director Leo McCarey an Oscar for Best Director.
