"One of the smartest, most inventive movies in memory, it manages to be as endearing as it is provocative."—Rita Kempley, Washington Post

"A gemlike picture crafted with rare and immaculate precision."—Todd McCarthy, Variety

He's the star of the show, but he doesn't know. Truman Burbank (Jim Carrey) doesn't realize that his quaint hometown is a giant studio set run by a visionary producer/director/creator (Ed Harris), that folks living and working there are Hollywood actors, that even his incessantly bubbly wife is a contract player. As he starts putting the puzzle pieces together he decides to take matters into his own hands. Jim Carrey is masterful in this wildly inventive film giving a performance that took audiences and critics by surprise and remains a high water mark for his career.
