"In addition to Fishburne, it gives us a first-rate soundtrack, a clutch of splendid cameos, fine, grainy direction from Duke, and much pointed stuff about the hypocrisy behind the USA's so-called war against drugs."—Stephen Garrett, Time Out

"Rather than ride the easy cynicism of the script, by Michael Tolkin and Henry Bean, Fishburne illuminates his character's moral struggle."—Peter Travers, Rolling Stone

DEEP COVER

He'd be the perfect criminal if he wasn't the perfect cop. Lawrence Fishburne stars as Russell Stevens, Jr., a maverick Cleveland cop with a turbulent past. Hand-picked by the DEA to infiltrate an international cocaine cartel based in Los Angeles, Stevens goes undercover as John Q. Hull, a bold new player with seemingly little to lose. As a cop he swore to follow orders, to uphold justice and to observe the law, but now the rules have changed.

A Neon Noir Selection

Neon Noir

After the Hays Code was lifted and the classic noir period came to a close, neo-noir was born. A more hard edged look at seedy underworlds and femme fatales. From those movies a slick sub genre emerged, the neon noir. Typified by its rain soaked streets lit by the glow of neon signs, these films have a particular brand of cool all their own.
