In his directorial debut, Peter Bogdanovich weaves two disparate story lines into a terrifying moment of confrontation.

"Peter Bogdanovich's first film and the best thing Boris Karloff did in his twilight years." - Ken Kish, Video Wasteland: Rental, Reference and Review Guide

"Bogdanovich's best film, along with the similarly bijou-related Last Picture Show, deservedly became as instant cult fave with its pointed mix of sincerity and exploitation." - The Phantom of the Movies, The Phantom's Ultimate Video Guide

"Excellent first feature by Bogdanovich, a former assistant to Roger Corman, who was executive producer." - Michael J. Weldon, The Psychotronic Encyclopedia of Film

In seemingly unrelated events, aging horror film star Orlok (Boris Karloff) announces his retirement, and an apparently average young man (Tim O'Kelly) accumulates an arsenal of rifles and handguns.  As the pace quickens, O'Kelly turns into a murderous sniper, showing up at a drive-in theater where Orlok is making his final personal appearance.
