"Real Genius allows every one of its characters the freedom to be complicated and quirky and individual."
- Roger Ebert, rogerebert.com
"The film makes it a mission to prove that what geeks and geniuses are best at isn't memorizing math formulas and elements off the periodic table; it's their ability to be creative and in doing so, change the world around us."
- Emily Asher-Perrin, Film School Rejects
Mitch Taylor is one of the youngest students ever accepted to a university known for its programs for geniuses. He partners up with his roommate, science club legend Chris Knight (Val Kilmer), on a project to develop a high-powered laser. Together with their hyperkinetic friends, they employ their intellects in the pursuit of bigger blasts, practical jokes, and a depper understanding of what real genius means. When they find out that their professor intends to turn their work over to the military for use as a weapon, they decide to get even. Presented as part of Science on Screen® - An initiative of the COOLIDGE CORNER THEATRE, with major support from the ALFRED P. SLOAN FOUNDATION.
